I popped into this bar in Shawlands on a Sunday afternoon. As the previous reviewer said, it looked pretty swish from the outside but was not that fancy once you got past the door. I was one of only two people who in the crowd of customers who did not have a Y chromosome.
It was okay to watch the football in during the day but I suspect it could get a bit rough at night. -

Finlay's bar is very swish and modern looking from
The outside, once you walk through the doors it's just your typical old mans pub that serves food.
I don't think I have ever seen more than 5 people in the place except for football days.
The food is not to shabby if I'm completely honest, and there was a seating area for the food so that you were not sitting around the bar area.
Personally it's not a bar I would usually go into I'm
28 years old and wanting a bit more of a upbeat bar but for a quiet one with the in laws it was ok.
Bar staff were great and always cracking jokes and smiling.
Place was clean and even have WiFi for the customers like most places now. Big TVs located around the bar but not in the seating food area. -

When you spot the gold and white exterior of Finlay's it would be easy to assume you'd just stumbled across a style bar in the centre of Kilmarnock Road. After all, it's got a swish octagonal clock outside and a Dean Martin quote, "If you drink, don't drive, don't even putt", plastered above the door. That constitutes fancy in my eyes.
It's somewhat surprising therefore to be met with a fairly underwhelming interior, the sort which would suggest it was actually Dean "Deano" Martin from Govanhill who'd uttered the aforementioned line.
It's not that Finlay's is a bad bar, far from it, it's just that it's an ordinary bar, with reasonable prices and football on TV. Complemented by good, hearty cheap food it's a nice local boozer and a welcoming enough place to catch a match. There is also entertainment offered on Fridays (disco) and Saturdays (karaoke).
One noticeable aspect of the establishment, however, was the disproportionate number of misters to sisters. Again, in complete contrast with the outside of the pub, this place seemed to be one for the men, on a Sunday afternoon anyway, with the one and only lady in the premises sitting idly by as her male companion was glued to Bolton Vs Arsenal, a game I'm sure he was not particularly bothered about.
Now that really is amore. -

This is a great local, traditional boozer...Although food is served in the bar area, they also have a seperate section which is more like a restauraunt. All of the food is home-made and they serve great, heart portions. Locals and visitors eat and drink here and it sits right on the main street with parking at the front. They also have a fantastic beer garden which is excellent in the Summer. Good choice of food and drinks at reasonable prices.
